"What a great little restaurant. Food was VERY good. Interesting food combinations.all good. All four of us had different dishes, and all very great. It is excellent value. There are places out there that charge much more and nowhere the quality or inventiveness. Wouldn't hesitate recommending it! And don't forget the French fries. Worth a trip for some of those. We WILL be returning. The service is friendly and efficient."

The decor and welcoming atmosphere was great, the food was execellent, with service to match. A three course meal for three people, with only one drinking came to £99, but worth every penny. To be honest, I cant wait to go back :)"

"Had a great meal out with the family, can honestly say this was the best steak I have ever eaten, fabulous. The service was very good and the place as a whole was quiet when we went but still very pleasant. The prices are not cheap but I think this is reflected in the quality of the food, you get what you pay for! Would not hesitate to recommend."

"Ruby Wedding Lunch"13th March 2012

"My wife and i booked the whole of the conservertory for our Ruby Wedding Party Lunch. It was held on March 11th 2012. We inspected the eating area prior to booking, and we were both very impressed by what we saw. The table arrangments were very flexible, so making it easy to group people together. On the day of the lunch every thing was fantastic, we had a very warm welcome from the staff, and the conservertory and tables were decorated with Ruby coloured baloons, table decorations and spotless tableware. Everyone was welcomed into the conservertory with a glass of champagne. The food was served as soon as everyone was seated and comfortable. The meals had been pre-booked from a very wide choice of food, and when delivered to the tables by very pleasent staff, looked very carefully presented. The food was cooked to a very high standard, and generous helpings. Wine was served by the waiters, who appeared very pleased to do so, and looked after everyones needs throughout the meal. We could not fault any part of the lunch, and it made it a fantastic Ruby Wedding Day. We will certainly use the resturant again in the future. "

"This hotel is family owned I believe. From the outside one would expect a really good hotel. From entering the property I felt at home. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming with a very contemporary feel to the reception, bar and restaurant. The choice of drinks is extensive and there is a warm area outside with heaters.
There was a small problem with my booking and the staff went out of their way to fix it. This is the sort of place you want to stay as the staff really make this place. When I am in Northampton next time I just hope there is a room available as I would not want to stay anywhere else.
My room was a single room and quite small however it was comfortable with a quality bed. The double rooms were a good size and also very clean and comfortable with good shower facilities.
The restaurant is a different class!! You think hotel food is lousy! Well this one is the best. The Steak was the best I have had in a while and my colleagues Linguine smelled and looked amazing. Service here again was excellent.Free Wifi and free parking.
This hotel is VERY good good value. So long as they don't get too cocky that they have a great hotel, bar and food they will do very well. I highly recommend this place!! 100%"

"Great short break" 5th January 2012

"Stayed at the Hopping Hare last August part of a visit to Althorp and did review on another web site. Just felt I should do one on Tripadvisor as I do regularly review hotels and restaurants here and wanted to put something back. My wife and I had 2 nights at the Hopping Hare and eat in the restaurant on both nights. The food at breakfast was excellent as was the a la carte in the evening, the cook definately knows his trade. Breakfast was a full English cooked to order, no long waiting. Coffee and tea was help yourself and this was no hardship and very good. In the evening the meals were first class, and after 3 couses I was replete and content. My one complaint is I tried to book a room again this year and I just cannot get a vacancy! They got to be something right! I'm gonna keep trying for that room!"

"Stayed here for 1 night on Friday 16th November iam a very fussy person and i have to say this place is awesome we arrived at about 6:15pm on friday night we had a table booked for 6 but traffic on the motorway meant we were late i did think that i had missed my slot in the restaurant but the lady behind the desk rearranged us for 7pm which was great we stayed in room 6 which was a lovely clean room with beautiful decor, at dinner we sat in the restaurant and had a outstanding meal the waiter was very helpful and polite, i slept very well the bed was comfy and the room was quiet breakfast is from 9am - 11pm and was as tasty as the evening meal we paid £75.00 and would definatley stay here again, One note to point out i was under the impression before i left that there was a no under 10 policy regarding children at this hotel however i was pleased to find out that it only applies to the restaurant children under 10 eat in the bar so i was told."

"What a fabulous stay..Everything about the hopping hare is to be congratulated..We were made very welcome when we checked in by a very helpful friendly young man (I wish we had asked his name) who offered to help us with our bags to the room..The room was simply gorgeous, tastefully decorated and beautifully clean, a wonderful comfortable bed with lovely linen...very nice toiletries in a fabulous bathroom..great attention to detail.. We had a great night sleep..The breakfast menu had a great choice and our waitress was lovely and friendly and when the cooked breakfast came we were not disappointed..It was beautifully cooked and we throughly enjoyed it...Staying over night at the hopping hare was a fabulous experience and we really congratulate the owners on their taste in decore..attention to detail..and their staff..We have put the hopping hare into our favourites to stay and we will definately will be back on a regular basis and will really look forward to it..."

"I have been stating at the Hopping Hare for three years on business - often once or twice a week and wouldn't stay anywhere else in Northampton. Why stay at a corporate chain at twice the price when you get excellent, modern decor in bedrooms, great food and atmosphere, and personal service here? Staff provide a warm welcome every time and are always around for a chat! In terms of appearance and style it's one of the best hotels I stay in - modern and with strong colours but restful and calm at the same time! Give it a try for yourself and enjoy."

"This was a wonderful find when we were looking for somewhere for my Husband and I to spend the night of our daughter's wedding, We had visited some in the center of Northampton which were nearer the wedding venue but as soon as we arrived at this place we could see that there was no contest. So much so that my daughter and her new husband and most of the guests needing accomodation stayed here. We and some other guests even stayed 2 nights although we were not far from home. The Hopping Hare staff were outstanding and could not do enough for us, we were in the bar till late on the night of the wedding and lingered over the toast that kept coming in the morning. Anything you wanted you just had to ask. We have travelled all over the world staying in all sorts of accomodation from some of the top hotels of the world to B and B and the service and cleanliness could not be bettered especially for the price we paid. It was lovely to stay in accomodation where all the rooms were different and individually furnished with such taste. They also catered so well for the 2 guests who needed gluten free supplying bread and sausages especially (the rest of the meals were no problem as it is all fresh cook) They went to such trouble laying a special area for breakfast so at my daughters request we could all eat together, unfortunatley not all guests were punctual but they worked round this. We would have no hesitation in recomending the Hopping Hare either for food or a bed but preferably do both!"

"I've stayed at the Hopping Hare 73 times to date over the last three years on business and have eaten the whole menu many times over! Great food, imaginatively presented with personal and efficient service. Food quality and design matches many mid range restaurants at much higher prices. Well decorated in two moods - subtly lit restaurant tables with highlighted fresh flowers or more casual modern dining in the bar areas. I still enjoy the experience on a weekly basis - great value, relaxed and friendly with food to please discerning customers. No wonder it's popular!"

"I have been to this resturant/bar several times and it just gets better and better each time. It has lovely decor throughout and is very cosy at this time of year. The lighting was very romantic perfect for a date. We had a 3 course meal, and all of it was fantastic, I particularly loved my Scallop starter with king prawns and cockels, will definately be having again. Overall I cannot fault this place, I would recommend to anyone. I will be returning to try more of the menu as soon as I can."

"I took a party of 10 to The Hopping Hare on Saturday 24th September - we had a table in the restaurant. The ambiance, service, quality of food and drink were superb. The party included my wife, friends from Guernsey and Moulton. We had a great time. My wife and I have now been half a dozen times, and it only gets better - my friends were full of praise and all want to come back. We have parties of between 2 and 22 people and its always been great."
